Recovery Week occurs each November, this year it falls between 15th and 21st November. The aim? To spread the word that addiction must be treated like any other disease, without stigma and shame but with kindness and hope.
We’ve been very happy to appear in newspapers, on the radio and on podcasts in order to work with others on this campaign.
You can join the event on Facebook and get involved on our Twitter, Instagram and Facebook Page.
Community, peer and familial support can make the difference between an addict conquering their addiction and letting the disease win. Stigma is rehabilitation’s downfall. We have to act now, and use our voice to end the suffering of those who cannot help themselves.
We will be encouraging people to ask any questions and share their experiences through their social media using the hashtag #RecoveryWeek. We’ll also be offering viewings of our rehab centre as well as providing help and advice. #RecoveryWeek is an initiative to aid a community, inviting people to support each other by sharing experiences and confronting perceptions around addiction and recovery. It’s a chance for people that would otherwise feel isolated and alone in their suffering or frightened by the prospect of approaching a rehab to reach out and take the help they need.
